The musician and activist accepted the lifetime achievement award at the Business Post Global Irish Diaspora Awards last week

Bob Geldof paid tribute to John Caldwell, the PSNI officer shot in Omagh, as he collected the lifetime achievement award at the inaugural Business Post Global Irish Diaspora Awards in London last week.

“In my head, knowing I was coming here, was DCI John Caldwell, who those scum tried to kill in front of his child,” Geldof told guests at the ceremony in the Waldorf Hilton hotel.
