THE MINISTER FOR Finance has called on energy companies to reduce customer bills as wholesale prices fall after months of high bills.
His comments follow a decision by Electric Ireland this week to decrease electricity bills for business customers by an average of 10% without announcing any similar cut for households. The government introduced a series of €200 energy credits in the Budget to take the top off bills amid skyrocketing increases for customers and inflation more broadly across the economy.
Similarly, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar told RTÉ One’s Prime Time last night that an additional energy credit is a possibility in the winter “when bills are inherently worse”.
More lipservice & no action from fiannafailparty mmcgrathtd FineGael LeoVaradkar EamonRyan greenparty_ie yet again!!! When are you actually going to govern? We need a GeneralElectionNow
'...has called on...' You should fuck1ng TELL them! 😡
This behaviour between the government ministers and the big energy providers is yet another example of how gouging is allowed to take place in Ireland right under the nose of the government.
Is there an echo across the valley? Yes, but it's falling on deaf ears. Go f..k yourself says the energy companies our shareholders got their dosh so what if poor people get ripped off!
Empty words
All words no action.
They said they are going tax the likes of the ESB. What about the foreign billing companies ? The ones allowed to set up all in the name of competition. Could you imagine if Vadarkar got his way years ago and sold of the ESB&ESBI.
Your having a laugh this is the biggest con job ever it's the end for this government
