KUALA LUMPUR: At least 10 local companies are studying the possibility of investing in the development of Indonesia's new Nusantara capital project, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that following recent discussions between the governments of Malaysia and Indonesia, at least ten companies are expected to participate.

He said this in reply to a supplementary question from Yusuf Abd Wahab , who asked about the involvement of Malaysian companies in the development of Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara. He then said that such projects – especially those involving gas – will likely be led by the Sarawak government as it is geographically closer to Nusantara.

To the initial question, Anwar said the Federal Government will closely coordinate all development for the project with the Sabah and Sarawak government, adding that Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will be the main coordinator.
