Although winds have been strong across most of New Jersey, formal wind advisories are active in the counties where the highest gusts are expected. As of early Tuesday afternoon, wind advisories are in effect through midnight in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean and Salem.
Those areas are expected to be hit with steady northwest winds of 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph at times, according to forecasters from the National Weather Service. A gale warning was issued for waters off the Jersey Shore and in the Delaware Bay. In addition, a winter storm warning remains in effect in Sussex County until 6 p.m., with forecasters calling for total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and winds gusting up to 40 mph.
A winter storm warning is active in western Passaic County until midnight, with additional snow accumulations of several inches in the forecast, along with winds gusting as high as 45 mph late Tuesday into Tuesday evening. For most areas of New Jersey, this storm is bringing plain rain, with occasional snow showers on Tuesday. Little to no snow accumulation is expected outside of far northern sections of New Jersey.Thank you for relying on us to provide the local weather news you can trust. Please consider supporting
