The Justice Department is investigating the possible surveillance of U.S. journalists by the owners of the social media app TikTok, three sources familiar with the matter confirmed to ABC News Friday. The investigation into the Beijing-based company ByteDance is being led by DOJ's Criminal Division in tandem with the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, and comes as the Biden Administration comes under increasing pressure to address the potential security threats presented by TikTok, the sources said.
The people familiar with the matter confirmed to ABC that the investigation began late last year, after the company acknowledged some of its employees had wrongfully accessed the data of several journalists who cover the tech industry in order to try and track down their sources.
At the request of US gov. Probably, like how Twitter was, or Facebook, Google still are.
Why not, Obama did the same thing!!
Report on POTUS inability to answer questions from reporters!
Tik Tok, FBI, DHS, and DoJ too… let’s dig deeper.
You warned us about tik tok and the lab leak, China, and the list goes on and on!! I’m glad someone knows what’s really going on in our world…too bad it isn’t the current so called president which he’s really not because a president is supposed to keep us SAFE!!wow twilight zone
I see ABC is already beginning the tirade against Trump…the poor man wants to get this country back on the right track and all this country can do is treat him like crap.he has to care to put up with these constant attacks.PRESIDENT TRUMP I BELIEVE IN YOU.. God bless you 🇺🇸🙏💕

“Well, by god, we can’t let this go on” -reporters who didn’t give a crap seconds ago
More reliable news source than media in the U.S.
Different than U.S. government spying on journalists
How about we focus on the surveillance of Australian journalists (And even every day citizens) by the Australian Government. We are not that far off from Chin (Even if we like to pretend we are). freeassange
That’s their job!
Facebook Twitter and Google do the same thing
Surely our own Nazi like intel goons do plenty of that.
How about the (I think we’re up to 7) BidenCrimeFamily members that got payments from the CCP?!? Oh and MAGA is trending on iTunes. 😆
Who is this? It's not just TikTok 😳
NO MENTION OF THE BIDENS RECEIVING CHINESE MONEY. CORRUPT —- MEDIA
The real reason it is being banned because it is a credible source of information from around the world. Steve Scaffidi you admitted you're on Tic Toc. Download the apo and explore creators
There is a way around the ban if you already have the app. Just get a VPN from another country. Its how the citizens of Iran got around it. This ban is about Mark Zuckerberg losing huge advertising revenue to Tik Tok. When does the government start banning other social media
Which is China. Get that garbage off your phone.
US journalists & big tech & media outlets need further investigations & oversight, too many are grossly manipulative & corrupt, failing the country… obviously China is not who we want brokering info & oversight however…
GMA It should not be banned.
GMA Absolutely nothing wrong to be founded there.
We know where our GOP 'leaders' are on these subjects...
aliasvaughn Authoritarian regimes are not our friends. We shouldn't treat them as though they are.
