The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said this was part of the ministry's goal of ensuring the people would have the best affordable options when shopping during Ramadan and for the Hari Raya holidays.
"We do not want the people to be too heavily affected by the rising cost of living during this important holiday season. "We will continue our efforts to balance out the rising cost of living by working together with industries to develop good deals for the people," he said after launching the LuLu Malaysia Jualan Rahmah Ramadan Promotion campaign at LuLu Hypermarket in Cap Square, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday .
The campaign, under the government's affordable shopping initiative Payung Rahmah, offer discounts of up to 70% on various daily necessities, from soap to food to electrical appliances, at all five of LuLu's retail outlets in the Klang Valley, and its one outlet in Johor Baru until May 1. Salahuddin also said LuLu's stores would also offer RM5 Menu Rahmah set menus from rice to noodles and pastry sets until April 23.
