Major fashion events are being criticised for featuring fewer models above a size 10 on their runways. Was size inclusivity nothing more than a trend?

Larger models like Ms Atilémile, who wears an Australian size 12-14, also walked in shows for labels that typically wouldn't use anyone above a sample size.

Ms Bonner said her agency had been "really active" in the lead up to MFF, pushing for more models above a size 10 to be included in the festival's main runways, but their emails were ignored. In a statement, a MFF spokesperson said 10 of the festival's premium runways featured "curve talent". They did not specify how many individual curve models were used across those 10 runways or what size clothing they wear.

Rani West, a size 14 model represented by BELLA Management, was among the curve models to walk at this year's Melbourne Fashion Festival. One of those events was the Fabulous and Trendy runway, which featured models ranging from size 16 to 24, wearing clothing from Melbourne-based labels. "I went and saw one of their big runways, and there was one curve model who was maybe a size 14, if that, and that was it, that was our representation."Ms Atilémile said while it's been "really sad" to see parts of the fashion industry treat size inclusivity as nothing more than a trend, she's optimistic things can be turned around.

Who calls that fashion, looks pretty ugly to me

Victims everywhere!! Bugger off.

Seriously you call this news What about the genocide going on? The Godless society falling for lies all around u

Where are the size 8 or 10s, fit healthy women? I only see skinny or plus size.

Obesity is not healthy and should not be glorified. Eat healthy and exercise, you know what you have to do.

DIEVERSITY

Wrapped ham at Woolies

Fashions change, what you wear is unimportant except for vapid women

No one wants to see fat people on the catwalk

What do the stats say when it comes what cash paying customers want to see? (genuine question)

Definitely, we don't see enough fat, gross women (and some men) shoved in our faces. Need more.

“…a growing number of people…” I see what you did there.

I have to unfollow now. The majority of your tweets are just BS and distractions. We are still being lied to about viruses and virology and pandemics, why not report the truth about those? There is no virus, there never was any virus.

Hopefully. Who wants to see fatties

It’s fine to make and sell clothes in multiple sizes. It’s NOT fine to insult your fashion show audiences by parading ugly, misshapen or obese people. Nobody (except for the mentally ill) wants to look at them.

So ah... drop a bit of weight.

SBS social media employees...

Fatties don't belong in fashion, that's what muumuus are for.

good. obesity should never have been glorified.

I understand that most high end designers cater to the smaller frame models as a way to showcase their garment, It would be absurd for highly obese women to do that as well. There needs to be a reform to cater to the middle ground of the slightly curvier woman.

You don't want to promote unhealthy body shapes. Obesity costs our health system over $8 billion every year.

They used size 12+ models for a laugh and attention seeking, it was never a long term change

Fat should never be celebrated. It’s not healthy

Skinny people don't want fat person clothes. Exclusive was always the bigger trend

Obviously

Yes it is a trend and an unhealthy one, just like the Kate Moss like skinny models of the 90s were. Everything in fashion is cyclical. Nothing wrong with beautiful slim models though. Clothes look better on them. Inclusivity politics is ruining everything.

By whom? No wants to see some fat blubberguts waddling down a runway.

Don’t worry about the males models now will we!

Size ten is a near perfect size to show off the designs

Yes, It was a trend that drew attention and pulled 💰. simply forgotten as “so last season” and on with the next trend. Its the way the fashion industry turns.

Size 10 is perfect.

Instead of skinny and fat models on the catwalk, why not have fit, healthy normal size women? Neither skinny or fat is healthy. Get some women who workout and are attractive enough to show off the clothes.

Why are we making obesity cool

Unless at some of the models are trans they can't say they're being inclusive or diverse.

There is such a thing as truth and objective beauty, and they are important concepts that we all share at an instinctive level. Inclusivity disrupts our shared understanding of beauty and truth, that's why it will fade.
