After making dinners for more than two decades that Houstonians take home to cook, a second generation brings the Tres Market food store to Dallas.

is Houston’s version of prepared food stores such as Dallas’ Eatzi’s, Snider Plaza’s The Festive Kitchen and Central Market’s chef’s section — but with its own flavor.

Tres Market’s “take home catering” of restaurant-type meals include baked eggplant with marinara and feta, beef short ribs, and family basics such as chicken pot pie and dinner meatballs. Large sizes serve 10 to 12; medium serves four to five, and small, two to three. Entrees range from $18 to $60, depending on the size. Sides and desserts are priced from $10 to $30, also in various sizes.

The store closes at 7 p.m. and “that’s great for the businesses around us,” she said. “While we prepare dinner fresh each day, we don’t serve dinner on site.” All foods are prepared on site, and each location operates with a staff of 45 who have Texas food handler certificates. Culinary degrees are required for managers. Refrigerated foods not sold within 24 hours are moved to frozen cases.
