Rates will change in most business districts, with the highest increase set at an additional $1 per hour.

Theresa Robinson, KIRO 7 NewsSEATTLE — Parking rates will increase in several Seattle neighborhoods starting Monday, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

It is the first time on-street paid parking rates have been adjusted in the city this year. SDOT says it makes seasonal adjustments to parking rates and plans to analyze parking conditions again in the summer and fall. Since parking activity has increased since last year, many paid parking areas will see a rate increase in the afternoon and evening. Paid parking rates will decrease or remain the same in the morning periods when rates already tend to be low.

Rates will change in most business districts, with the highest parking rate increase set at an additional $1 per hour.

Drive then right out of business/ city

Parking. All I see are (potential) homeless shelters.

Another reason NOT to go to Seattle!

All you all bitching and moaning about this don't even live or come to the city. I say street parking is still too cheap.

Economics 101 on how to keep people away from downtown.

Business is dying! Great move.

Just say your homeless they get free parking!

You can park a tent for free. Shorter commute time. Free drug paraphernalia. Something to consider

Does this also include RVs or no?

Buy a 10 person tent that pops up with the built in poles, then drive up to where you want to go, pop the tent up and park your car in it. Free parking is back! 😜

Drug addicts park for free!!

I'm surprised there's any street parking left after adding miles of bike lanes.

Is security an added extra or does this dollar cover it?

Well, I wasn't going to go downtown anyway; and now, so much for the U. District. Somebody hates small urban businesses, I guess.

Yes. Finally.

but whats the money going to? is it like our toll bridges? more expenses just to line the city councils pockets? This has gotten out of hand.

How about free. We have people using sidewalks and parks for living for free why cannot people use the parking for free?

Brilliant idea for a dying central business core.

That's a great way to get people to come back to Seattle. 🙄
