Cracker Barrel this week became the latest company to announce it is leaving the, area shortly after Walmart announced its departure following comments from the CEO that crime and theft were taking their toll.
"As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the performance of our stores, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our guests and our business," the company said in a statement. In a statement to Fox Business asking for specifics on what aspects of the pandemic led to the closures, a Cracker Barrel spokesperson said, "Like so many other companies, the pandemic impacted our business, and we have struggled to staff and profitably run these stores. Despite the extra efforts made, we couldn’t viably continue to keep our doors open."
"We have nearly 5,000 stores across the U.S. and unfortunately some do not meet our financial expectations," Walmart said in its announcement, according to KPTV. "While our underlying business is strong, these specific stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped."
Oh no! How will Portlanders survive without that mediocre chain restaurant? Devastating news.
Thanks democrats. We never really liked Portland anyway.
What does Portland Chamber of Congress have to say about it...if they aren't afraid to tell the truth?
I'm actually surprised there was a Cracker Barrel in Portland. Cracker Barrel is a chain I normally associate with rural areas and communities.

Good, let's starve them out. Its a fucking cesspool
When people elect the wrong officials…
Portland is becoming a ghost town
How sad is it that they can't say it's because crime and theft because they'll get called racist.
Go Woke and Go Broke! Just another sign!
I'd rather lose my Cracker Barrel than my OB-GYN department at the local hospital.
Why isn't they calling themselves cracker barrel considered racist or offensive, especially when it mostly white people that eat there
I thought I read a article about a month ago Cracker Barrel was closing quite a few businesses. What is it ... It may have been because of the pandemic, but state facts. Portland is not the Rose any longer, hasn't been for 15 years.
They just got there too 😮💨
It’s too late for Portland to recover (if they want to) from the crime ridden hell hole its become.
Imagine that
Why would any business want to stay in a liberal democrat run state where crime rules and the left is extreme.
Between mid-big businesses moving and entrepreneurs and successful start ups leaving due to higher capital gains, there’s not gonna be much around other than govt related jobs. 👎🏼
Portland better figure it out soon
Not sure if this is a win or loss for Portland
