The Prime Minister has stood firm on his commitment to acquire nuclear-powered submarines through the AUKUS agreement and emphasised the importance of investment in national security.

Anthony Albanese said the issue of the cost of living and the state of Australia’s economy “falls away” unless the country’s strategic interests are looked after.

“I don’t apologise for making a commitment that will see our Defence expenditure rise over future years,” Mr Albanese said during Question Time on Monday. “The truth is, we live in an era of strategic competition in our region. The truth is, we live in very uncertain times and it is important that we invest in our capability,” he said.

“We are investing in our capability, whether it be nuclear-powered submarines, or whether it be other military equipment that will improve our capability.”

Let the general public have their guns back then.

Good. I'm not always a fan but he's completely right on this. While I'm in the praising mood, taking smiling selfies all around the region was ace as well. So when Xi insisted on a non-selfie photo and frowned, yet Albo smiled anyway: showed CCP was the problem, not Australia. 👍

You should apologise for covid and longcovid policies eugenics

Well done Albo
