The company says its joint owners, Nottingham City Council and Nottingham Trent University, have agreed it is an 'opportune time' for the company to end operations

A company set up to regenerate areas of Nottingham including Sneinton Market is being wound up after ten years. The Creative Quarter Company was set up by Nottingham City Council in 2012 to encourage the establishment of creative businesses and employment opportunities in the sector.

The Creative Quarter area of Nottingham, which the CQC's work has centred on, is broadly defined as encompassing Hockley, the Lace Market and Sneinton Market. The CQC says it is "proud" of its work but that its final day of operation will be on March 31. Tamily Cookson, the interim CEO of the CQC, said: "Although the team and I are sad to say goodbye on behalf of the Creative Quarter Company, we are proud of the legacy that has been created with the city's Creative Quarter very much established and thriving." The CQC says its key achievements include the creation of Sneinton Market Avenues from formerly derelict premises.

The company's work over the last ten years has also included playing a key role in events such as the annual Light Night festival. Its company offices are based in Sneinton Market and current directors include Nottingham councillors Rebecca Langton and Leslie Ayoola. Tamily Cookson added: "There are many significant successes to mark as part of this announcement, the evolution of Sneinton Market being a central achievement, not forgetting the many amazing businesses and independents that have flourished to bring investment and employment to Nottingham.
