The Barras market team were left delighted this weekend after their traditional Hong Kong-style street market turned out to be a huge hit.
Taking to social media, the delighted organisers thanked everyone who traded and attended the event, posting: "Whilst we are open 52 weeks of the year, we hope that you will agree that this weekend was pretty special."We made lots of new friends in the Hong Kong community and reconnected with many old faces who hadn’t been to the market in years. From waffles to whelks, pipers to pineapple cakes, we had something for everyone.
Food on both days, which included the likes of Hong Kong street specialities such as curried fish balls, egg bubble waffles and honey beef jerky proved to be hugely popular, selling out completely within both afternoons as huge queues formed.Fans are now hoping that the success will lead to similar events and see more people returning to the market more regularly, with people pointing out that the demand for this type of event is quite clearly there.
