Legislation that would extend one time grants to private commuter bus companies could help displaced DeCamp bus commuters, its sponsor says.

by State Sen. Patrick Diegnan Jr. The program ended in March 2022.

But Codey’s legislation will not provide immediate relief to prevent the end of DeCamp’s commuter service on April 7 because of the time it takes to hold hearings and vote on legislation and the legislature’s calendar. DeCamp said he has heard from riders who are worried about how they will get to and from work after April 7.

Meanwhile DeCamp commuters received emails on Thursday evening from Boxcar announcing the Essex Express. Plans call for service to operate 10 morning buses between 5:30 and 10:30 a.m., and 10 evening buses between 3:30 and 9:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
