A whistleblower who alerted federal authorities to the fraud will receive a share of the money owed by the Morris County company.

Coyne Public Relations, LLC, which is based out of Parsippany, applied for and received a Paycheck Protection Program loan, even though it was ineligible because it was a required registrant under the Foreign Agent Registration Act, according to a statement from the US Attorney’s Office.

Congress created the PPP in March 2020, as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, to provide emergency financial support to Americans suffering the economic effects caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the office said. The CARES Act authorized billions of dollars in forgivable loans to small businesses struggling to pay employees and other business expenses.
