A Whole Foods spokesperson reportedly cited safety concerns for staff for the closure.

that a Whole Foods spokesperson said that the 65,000-square-foot store, which opened just more than a year ago at Trinity Place, has closed “to ensure the safety” of its staff there.

Per CBS, the spokesperson called the closing a “difficult decision.” The spokesperson did say, however, that the closing is expected to just be temporary. In the meantime, current staff at the location will reportedly be sent to nearby stores to work.CBS also reported that a local independent newspaper,, cited a City Hall source in reporting that the chain “pointed to nearby crime and drug use” for its closing.
