A handful of would-be student entrepreneurs will try to stay cool under pressure April 27 when each faces judges in the University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland's first business pitch competition.Inspired by a pitch competition at a regional business incubator last summer, faculty members formed a student interest group for entrepreneurship, said Troy Voelker, UHCL's associate dean of the college of business.

The one-minute pitches the students recorded at the end of the event were judged by faculty members, and five were chosen to move on to the final event, said Yasmene Sadek, the university's outreach coordinator.
