Berry said he will be returning to his career in the renewable energy industry, but did not specify which company. In the letter, Berry said he would be available to continue working for the county until May 19 at the latest."He has tangibly professionalized Harris County operations and improved the quality of Harris County government to better serve the public. Mr. Berry’s next employer will be lucky to have him,” the statement said.
The court will discuss his departure, and the plan to replace him, at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday. At $385,008 a year, Berry is the second-highest-paid county employee.
