Yeah, let’s regulate for problems that might someday occur. There is never any issues with that. Pshh... please. Microsoft has enough in council lawyers to deal with heavy regulatory burdens. Smaller companies don’t. This “morality” pitch is actually about competitive advantage.

Self Regulation is a joke that greedy people like to invoke!

No, let’s go with the heavy handed regulatory regime, rather than Microsoft PRETENDING to self-regulate with new technology.

even more? Microsoft monopolized it's industry thus screwing the competition and ordinary consumer, now trying to limit some gov't control after it steals my info with no protection from crooks. thanks for donating a tiny part of fortune you stole

'Self-regulation'? Is that like the fox guarding the henhouse?

Yeah we are beyond self policing, sorry. Don't trust you

What Nadella is doing is a lie. Their 'self Regulation' is orchestrated by Government. Their self regulators are all rabid left wing socialists.

It’s true. But it won’t happen. It never does. Because most people can’t or won’t self-regulate. Even in the face of tight regulations. Which is why regulations are imposed ON them. Then they fight the regulations, showing they are incapable of self-control.

What could go wrong with that plan?

Self-regulating the most powerful computer company that basically controls the internet? Then they control communications of freedom-loving small-govt Capitalists just like Hitler did to prevent them from teaming up against his Socialist Imperialist regime. He took their guns too

What a loaded statement. It really depends on the technology and the track record of the company's using it. Some say that hands off regulation of the mortgage industry worked best...until it didn't.

The biggest concern about new technologies is the lack of security

That is a naive statement

SCInternacional vem investir no inter MicrosoftBr

It is an open source world. It has been acknowledge that windows uses open source components, which means the whole of windows falls under the GPL and Microsoft is legally required to offer source code to all. Good luck with so called self regulation, which literally means none

Yep. Just like the fossil fuel industry. They do a great job of regulating their byproducts and toxic waste with no oversight whatever.

yet their EULA's give them free reign to collect what they want and do what they want with that information.
