Houston’s international clientele made it an obvious choice for their second location, says the couple, who moved to Texas after a random extended layover in Dallas a few years ago. They permanently reside in Houston, after living in Dallas to open their first location.
When French-born Houstonians or international visitors stumble into the shop, they recognize grocery brands such as Lu Paille d’or, a light and crispy wafer filled with raspberry preserves. “They are so happy to see it … something you’ve had since you were a kid,” she says. When it comes to clothing, Monvoisin stocks the labels she likes to wear herself. Many of the small-batch brands are available in the U.S. for the first time. “We are very proud of that,” she says.
