Authorities found the explosive material after responding to reports of a commercial burglary in the area.

Police announced on Thursday that a 48-year-old San Jose man was arrested after authorities found dozens of pounds of materials used to make explosives at his home and business.

San Jose Police Department officers responded just before 4:20 a.m. on Monday to a business located in the 1200 block of Old Bayshore Highway on reports of a commercial burglary, according to a department statement. While conducting a search of the building, officers found"what appeared to be a destructive device manufacturing operation" inside the business. Bomb squad units responded to the scene to secure the materials, and investigators ultimately identified Adam Mirassou as the suspect responsible for amassing the materials.

Authorities also served search warrants at Mirassou's business and residence, where they found"over a hundred pounds of precursor explosive making materials, assembly equipment and completed explosives." Mirassou was arrested at his home and booked into jail, where he is being held without bail, according to the SJPD.
