A family-owned building company has gone into liquidation in the latest blow to Australia's construction industry.

Multi-Res Builders Pty Ltd, which has constructed"high quality homes and unit developments" in Tasmania for many years, has vanished.

A notice published on the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on Sunday stated Multi-Res Builders - led by Colin Barratt, 62 - had gone into liquidation, with David Joseph Levi appointed as the liquidator. The company's website has since been deleted, however it is understood the business had several projects in the works, including nine units on Carnegie St in Claremont and 12 townhouses on Boyer Rd in Bridgewater.
