The funds are meant for two separate programs:

The first program is a round of three-month paid job placements with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association. It includes on-line and hands-on training, and participants will be able to transition into full-time jobs. The second program will see the Automotive Industries Association of Canada set up training programs at Conestoga College in Guelph, Fanshawe College in London and St. Lawrence College in Cornwall. It will help people looking to enter the electric vehicle industry gain skills.The aim is to help around 360 people either find jobs or get closer to full-time employment.

“These new programs will not only provide people with opportunities for good-paying jobs and rewarding careers, but they’ll also help support our growing auto industry,” said Premier Doug Ford. “We’re securing the future of our province’s auto sector, attracting billions of dollars in new investments for electric vehicle and battery production and ensuring the cars of the future are built right here in Ontario, by Ontario workers.
