Preston's market deli so good a customer travelled from Kent and spent £150 on pies

In Christmas week, Redman's Fine Foods deli sells "about 2,000 pork pies", owner Sandra Steel told LancsLive as she packaged up a meat and potato pie .

He'd driven from his home in Kent, via Wales to pick up his mother, with the duo's final destination Preston's famous market. Redman's, a family business established back in 1945, isn't just about the pies, either, with cooked breakfasts, hot and cold meats, freshly-prepared sandwiches and pastries on offer.

Well, I can tell you it was one of the greatest pies that has ever graced my gob. I'm a born and bred Lancastrian so they are effectively part of my DNA, and it takes a while to recover from a bad pie experience.Meat and potato is always my go-to, ever since my gran told me it is the one flavour you should use to judge whether a bakery is good or not.
