Wesfarmers Chairman Michael Chaney’s suggestion that a failed Voice to Parliament referendum will turn away foreign investors is a “load of rubbish”, according to Shadow Veteran Affairs Minister Barnaby Joyce.

“They’re all bending over backwards trying to open up markets again to China,” Mr Joyce told Sky News host Amanda Stoker.

“They’re doing absolutely everything they can to open up markets to China, now let’s go through China’s record with the Uyghur people, with journalists who have just been whipped off the streets in Hong Kong … with Australians – corporate people who have basically been incarcerated without trial China.”
