Justin Thomas found it hard to miss. The 30-year-old got wind of the PGA Tour’s merger with LIV Golf on Tuesday, while he was practicing.

He was one of several golfers who had opted not to jump from the PGA to the Saudi-backed rebel tour who were taken aback by the 10 a.m. announcement — which flew in the face of two-plus years of nose-thumbing from the PGA Tour and its stars.

Making matters worse, many of the PGA golfers found out the news the same way everyone else: via Twitter. “Nothing like finding out through Twitter that we’re merging with a tour that we said we’d never do that with,” Mackenzie Hughes
