One of the companies in a major agriculture merger is lobbying the feds on the planned business transaction. Former Manitoba PC leader Hugh McFayden — now with Longview Communications — has registered to lobby for. In the registration, filed last week, the goal of the lobbying effort is described asand, in particular, how the combination will strengthen the global supply chain, bring increased market access for producers, and create opportunities for communities across Canada.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that Bunge, a U.S. grain company, and Glencore-backed Viterra are merging to create an agricultural trading giant worth about $34 billion including debt.
