A female Liberal MP has accused Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews of labelling her a “half-wit” in parliament.

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley has pressed the government on the Voice to parliament on behalf of the opposition.

Ley said it was a simple “yes or no” question, and that Burney could hand the question over to somebody else if she could not answer it. There was a brief eruption of noise.“I will say this to the parliament,” Burney says. “When they go low, we go high.” “I thank the member for her question,” Albanese said. “There was a lot more money raised for the Curtin campaign than there was for Grayndler [Albanese’s electorate]. I do make that point ... it was a good campaign, and I’m pleased that she is here. I say congratulations.”

“I believe that will lead to better government. It is something my government is committed to, something we are implementing in practice, and it will make a difference and produce better government in this country.”
