San Francisco Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting Thursday night.

SFPD said officers responded to the area of Market and Powell at around 8:39 p.m. on the report of a shooting. The arriving officers found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital where they later died. The victim's name and age were not disclosed.

BART officials posted on Twitter just before 9 p.m. that the entrance at Hallidie Plaza was closed due to "police activity". Video from the Citizen App shows a crowd of people and first responders at the scene. Police investigators said this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. However, no arrests have been made and no suspect information was shared.
