Michael Jordan has just got a lot richer after agreeing to sell his stake in the Charlotte Hornets.

The deal will make the NBA icon billions - more than he has earned over the near 40 years of his partnership with Nike.has been the majority owner of the Hornets for 13 years after purchasing them for a mere $275m in 2010. Details of the sale have not been revealed, but it is reported to be around $3billion - netting Jordan himself profit in the region of $2bn , according toJordan is widely celebrated as the greatest NBA player of all-time. He is a six-time champion and five-time MVP.Most read in NBAJordan was paid $90m across his entire NBA career, sums that have been dwarfed by his endorsement deals and business moves.

He famously signed with Nike in 1984 - a deal that turned into the most lucrative endorsement deal in history.Forbes estimate that his total endorsement deal earnings over his life have been in the region of $1.8bn .
