However Trudeau, speaking at a child-care infrastructure announcement in the GTA, made clear on Wednesday he believes there are big questions of public interest at stake.“I know that there is a proposal that has been carefully looked at and analyzed and the Competition Bureau and others are going to be taking looks at it because this is a significant step.”

In a separate note to its employees which broke the talks of a merger, Postmedia said it was announcing the talks were in progress, and going public “in light of unusual trading activity.”
