Several productions are paused and thousands are out of work as the Alberta film industry takes a hit amid Hollywood strikes.

Some Hollywood sets operating in Canada rushed to film before strike

“Everybody was sort of reading the tea leaves and saw that the strike was probably going to happen, so we actually worked 10 straight days to try and get in work on a couple of episodes so that they can at least go back and edit those. Now we’re halfway through the season, and we’ll have to wait and see when we actually get back to shooting the rest of it.”

“There is a time lag between when they’re shot and post-production and when they’re released. I’m expecting that this will be seen in the fall to winter,” he said. “That’s, I think, where we have an opportunity for Canadian independent productions, because there’ll be a shortage of content in the marketplace, and people will give some of our Canadian content a second look where perhaps they might not have in the past.
