State of Alaska files motion with Supreme Court concerning Pebble project

The State of Alaska filed today a motion in the United States Supreme Court regarding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's rulings on Northern Dynasty Minerals' Pebble project.

Called a motion of leave, Alaska state argues that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency veto of the Pebble project is a breach of contract, and the withdrawl 309 square miles in the Bristol Bay region from use for mining purposes is unconstitutional without compensation.“The Bill of Complaint filed by Alaska is a welcome development in the long Pebble saga,” said Ron Thiessen, President and CEO of Northern Dynasty.
