A man in his 40s or 50s was fatally stabbed in an encampment near an Interstate 805 on-ramp in the Chollas View neighborhood Tuesday night, a California Highway Patrol official said.
The attack was reported about 8:40 p.m. at the Market Street on-ramp to north I-805, CHP Officer Jesse Matias said. Paramedics tried to save the victim, but he died at the scene, Matias said. The man’s name was withheld, pending family notifications.The on-ramp was closed for six hours during an on-scene investigation. Matias said several people were interviewed at the scene but none had information about what led up to the stabbing.
