THE Philippines and the United States are looking into the possibility of forging an agreement to boost their respective nursing industries and pave the way for their recovery following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We do have a problem with our nurses leaving and going abroad and finding good jobs abroad. And we certainly encourage that; we’re not about to hold them back,” said Marcos. Duckworth said the proposal included sending American nursing students to study in the Philippines, emphasizing that Filipino nurses have demonstrated their ability to pass the licensure examinations for nursing in America.Marcos and Duckworth said that such an agreement will be advantageous for both countries.
“So, for example, we’ve discussed at length about electronic vehicle batteries and we can’t get enough of them to meet the American market. And I can’t think of a better place to create a new manufacturing ecosystem for the American market than here in the Philippines where we can work together to supply that market so that we can continue to make our switch to renewables as well. And there are many other places where we can work together,” Duckworth said.
