Keep the hemp industry thriving in Texas | Opinion

Texas hemp farmers are well-positioned to deliver high-quality hemp to this growing market and others. In addition to cannabinoid products, hemp can be grown for making textiles such as clothing and fiber, for building materials and automobile manufacturing, as well as for health, wellness and beauty products.

Reasonable and coherent regulations benefit everyone, including mom-and-pop retailers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and especially adult consumers, who are buying products that follow state regulations. Later this month, the Hemp Industries Association will hold its 27th annual conference in Austin. The conference will also showcase several Texas hemp-derived product manufacturers, cultivators and retailers, which have added thousands of jobs to the state economy and labor market, while contributing millions of dollars in tax revenues to local, county and state municipalities.
