Code for ‘we want to eliminate these cheaper fares’ .... because people love paying a shed load to be crushed in a space less than 6 inches wide that’s not the reason for overcrowding 🙄

It's not just the fares the train companies need to look at. Southeastern need to invest in more high speed rolling stock and run trains with the maximum number of carriages so we aren't all crammed in like cattle. Get this right then look at fares!
All that will happen is that current off peak rail fares will go up considerably in effect making all travel ‘peak time’ travel. Sneaky way of increasing fares without incurring the wrath of commuters! railfares

Passengers have been asking for fairer fares for years are the operators now comming on board, or will they stick with their limousines and is this just a cry for more money from them?

Presumably fair pricing isn't on the list. (I did read the article) Larger overhaul is needed, or nationalisation will be even more paletable to the working classes.
