Ireland ranks eighth most improved among 38 OECD countries on increasing renewable energy supply from 2010-2020.
She added: “Norway and Sweden have over 50% RE in their energy mix but those countries have abundant hydroelectricity resources and also nuclear energy that we don’t have. “We need to see an end to new gas connections and an end to the use of coal and oil in power generation. They include increased electrification, a vastly improved and quicker planning system and investing more in the grid.
“If we can electrify our heating, transport either with rail or electrify vehicles then we will be able to decarbonise much faster.
