According to the Water Data for Texas, a year ago, Canyon Lake was close to 90 percent full. Today, it’s sitting at about 68.5 percent.

Residents in the area say they remember water levels being about 17 feet higher, launching their boats from a significantly higher point on the boat ramp. “It’s unbelievable how low it is from last year,” Andrew Clark, a boater on the lake, said. “When we moved out here last April, it was full. Last summer, it slowly started going down, and now it’s staying down.”He says the solution is simple; it’s just hard to come by. Nelson and his wife are hopeful for rain.

“Well, we have a big god, right? He’s going to let the windows open sometime and fill it back up. It’s just nature, it’ll happen,” Nelson said. And while the lake waits on significant amounts of rain, one boat rental business owner says she’s trying to stay afloat.“Because of , we are having to drive over here, redirect our clients over here, and also there’s a lot of lines that build up over here, so it delays our clients getting out on the water,” Katelyn Seimet, whose boat rental business has been affected, said.Jonathan Cotto is a reporter for KSAT’s Good Morning San Antonio.
