Placing responsibility for outrageous drug pricing solely on manufacturers is only part of the story. Private insurers like mine, use a retail price of $6,100 a month for Humira, and then bill me $3,214; $38,568, annually. If not for Abbvie's $5 co-pay, I couldn't afford it.
Affordable? It's super expensive
Advertising costs should be limited for pharmacutical companies. Cost of drugs & price increases regulated. We let insurers and pharma gouge the public while we have to pay for it. Plus, drug side effects are huge part of healthcare costs. Doctors prescribe way too mant drugs.
jwgop Right. And they don’t need to keep the drug affordable. Easy call
BS. No other explanation.
BS...
They spend more on advertising than on R&D.
Not sure how they define 'affordable'...it's like S$1000 per dose in Singapore
jwgop Check out the nuviguil/ proviguil scam. Literally paid generic manufacturers to not make it. Find a billion, then licensed it at insane levels for generics when they were introduced.
No wonder people turn against capitalism when they see this kind of greed. The promise of capitalism and competition is to see lower prices. Clearly the US is getting ripped off here, and they allow it to happen.
jwgop The oldest trick in big pharma’s book, sadly.
