A 34-year-old man was shot while working behind the counter at a Philadelphia market on Wednesday.

The man was working in a protective booth at Carolina Market, located along the 2600 block of West Lehigh Avenue, when a man reached through the money opening with a gun and fired about five times.said. He was taken to a hospital where he is listed in critical condition.The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

“You can clearly see the shooter walk into the store, stand in line, there was at least one person in front of him, and when he approached the counter he pulled a gun and fired five shots into the cashier booth,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said during a press conference. Officials said the suspect was dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, and wearing a baseball cap turned backward.
