On Thursday, B.C. Supreme Court granted a bankruptcy order against Martel, which follows afterNext, on Sept. 11 the court will hear an application from PricewaterhouseCoopers to have Martel declared in contempt of court and to issue a warrant for him.
In the application, PricewaterhouseCoopers alleges that he is in breach of three separate orders by the court and has had several months to comply with the orders.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.“Mr. Martel’s offence is not only contemptuous but also has the effect of prejudicing PwC in its mandate, as Court-appointed Receiver, to recover funds for MMAC’s creditors,” the application says.
Martel’s lawyers previously told the courts he was living in Thailand but it is unclear if he is still there.
