Ben Doak, Bobby Clark, Jarell Quansah and Kaide Gordon are all expected to have extremely bright futures at Anfield

Whatever happens in the weeks and months ahead, few will relish the prospect of Liverpool returning to Europa League action for the first time since 2016 as extensively as some of the club's young prodigies.

At 17, Doak has already enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks and his eye-catching performances across all age groups last year saw him advance from Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's under-18s to Liverpool's first team in less than five months. Initially operating as a left-sided attacker when he arrived on Merseyside, under-21s coach Barry Lewtas has since moulded Clark into a left-sided No.8 over the last 18 months.

"We said to the boys before the game on Monday that a few years ago Curtis Jones was named Premier League 2 player of the year. We told them if they think they are above that level, or are ready to move on, there are ways of showing it and Curtis did that that year, and has gone on to where he is. Speaking after the game, stand-in captain Trent Alexander-Arnold said: "You don’t genuinely believe you’re going to win the game but if you stick together, you’ll get chances.. The lads that came on, amazing. Jarell Quansah. Absolutely outstanding."
