Atlassian, which has grown to become one of the world's biggest software companies, is helping to create a Silicon Valley in heart of Sydney | EstherHjHan

Twenty years ago, when university dropouts-turned-billionaires Scott Farquhar and Michael Cannon-Brookes looked for their first office space, they chose some small rooms on Sydney’s Kent Street "purely" because it was cheap.

Now, Atlassian, which has become one of the world's biggest software companies and turned the pair into multi-billionaires, is helping to create a new epicentre.NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Tuesday, with Mr Farquhar, announced Atlassian would be an anchor tenant at the Sydney Innovation and Technology Precinct in the Central-Eveleigh corridor.

The government will also create a "Central Coast Education and Employment Precinct" in Gosford and has committed $12.5 million to develop a "Nuclear Medicine and Technology Hub" in Lucas Heights.
