Sharks say Gallen's business dealings have no impact on the NRL's salary cap investigations | carriefellner

Cronulla Sharks skipper Paul Gallen invested in a property with a director of a company that became a major team sponsor months later, but club officials are confident his dealings will escape censure by an NRL investigation into salary cap breaches., Cronulla Sharks chief executive Barry Russell said he was unaware of Gallen’s investments with the director of a major sponsor. However, he said it was Gallen's business and that probably “wouldn’t have any relevance” to salary cap rules.

While Infinity was a Sharks back of jersey sponsor, a development application was approved for a house worth around $185,000 on the block - increasing the potential value of the investment. “Paul’s business is Paul’s business,” he said. “There’s never been any link to salary cap breaches with Paul or Infinity.”

Gallen has appeared in online testimonials for Infinity Group, saying he had "immense faith" in the company. He still owns a second block of land on Dewhurst Street in West Tamworth that he purchased with Pro5per Investments in December 2015.on Wednesday, Mr Russell said he was unaware of the property dealings and could not confirm whether they were disclosed to, or approved by, Cronulla officials.

The NRL's website says: “There are provisions for club sponsors to enter into agreements with elite players under the Marquee Player Agreement allowance. All third party agreements must be registered and approved beforehand.”

carriefellner If the sharks say it, must be true right? 🙄

carriefellner Nek minute...

carriefellner The profit % in that short space of time will definitely count as an undeclared third party arrangement. Land value in Tamworth didn’t rise like that regardless of approvals

carriefellner Add this incident to the list

carriefellner No other club would get away with what this grub club gets away with. Well, maybe the roosters
