As is customary, the first three days of the two weeks set aside for the Budget are devoted to broad fiscal principles, before MPs go on to scrutinise each ministry's plans.

The two days of debate focused a lot on issues to do with transforming the economy, helping companies climb the innovation ladder and helping workers reskill.
