Wilma Clark of Plano endured a month without a/c in scorching weather, despite having home warranty insurance from Cinch Home Warranty.

Meet Wilma Clark of Plano, who has gone more than a month without air conditioning, from mid August to, well, she still didn’t have it fixed as of this writing -- 38 days! In terms of problems, this is a 10 out of 10.She said, “I’m a 69-year-old woman with diabetes and underlying conditions in 100 and something degree weather who can’t stay in her house because they are negligent on contacting me.”“I tried to sleep there one night, but it didn’t work very well,” Clark said.

Horrible. That’s why The Watchdog took on her case. Can I get Cinch to fix her air conditioning? Can I get her money back? Can I show her and everyone what to do in a situation such as this?If Clark lived in an apartment, she could file a complaint with her city’s code enforcement officer. The landlord would get cited and the problem, usually but not always, would get fixed. But Clark owns her residence.

Originally, Cinch told her the company would replace her entire unit. Then Cinch decided only to replace the compressor.Cinch demanded that before they’d do anything, she pay $1,200 up front for the part. She paid the company, but two days later someone called and said she hadn’t paid so they couldn’t order the part.
