Sources at major installers and manufacturers told i that the 2035 ban on gas boilers, which has now been scrapped, was not actually a major issue for the industry but that removing it sent completely the wrong message

While Mr Sunak scrapped the 2035 ban, he did announce a 50 per cent increase in the amount of money available under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for households wishing to buy a heat pump.
