Two more federal ministers could retire at the election, with suggestions parliamentary veterans Christopher Pyne and Steve Ciobo are next to go.

The decision comes after a swathe of prominent Coalition MPs, including former foreign minister Julie Bishop, resigned ahead of the next election.

Scott Morrison was asked in Townsville on Friday if he had spoken to the frontbench pair about their impending decisions. He did not deny Defence Minister Mr Pyne or Defence Industry Minister Mr Ciobo could be about to quit.

Well all new MPs we might as well have a totally new government as they will all have their training wheels on ... I may not agree with their politics but experience does have an advantage

Do they want some more suggestions?

If only LaundyCraigMP would throw it in as well - we could get a hat trick. What’s the chances Craig? Come on - one for the team?

They have announced it already
