Mboweni seeks court order to set aside Public protector remedial action against Mogajane | Fin24

According to a statement from national treasury, Mboweni filed the application at the North Gauteng High Court.

Last year, Mkhwebane released a report following an investigation into Mogajane's application for the top position at Treasury. She found that he failed to disclose a criminal record- a speeding fine, Fin24 reported.against Mogajane in terms of the Public Service Act. According to the act, the president is responsible for disciplinary steps and the implementation of relevant sanctions against a head of department.

Later that day the public protector's office issued a statement in response to Mboweni's comments, in which Mkhwebane said Mboweni was trivialising a serious matter. Her office also indicated she will write to the president and Parliament Speaker Baleka Mbwete to report ministers interfering with her work.

OP-ED: We must preserve the State’s capability to address people’s needsWhile those who critique the public sector as being bloated may welcome the moves by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni to reduce public sector staff costs as necessary and decisive, I would argue that we need to move beyond the usual critiques in order to have a nuanced conversation about the role of government officials. Vx. I Just leave V. vx For a nuanced conversation: How many political appointments have been pushed into departments? What are the salary scales of these individuals? What positions do they occupy in the Department? Were their appointments done on a contract period, if not, why not?
